Kathryn Whitaker, Autism Consultant and Site Editor

Kathryn Whitaker is an autism consultant for a Vermont school district.
Kathryn earned her undergraduate degree in behavioral sciences and special education from Lyndon State College in Vermont.

Kathryn has extensive graduate level work in special education with concentrations in learning disabilities, assistive technology and autism intervention from Sonoma State University of California, Johnson State College, of Vermont and the Vermont Higher Education Collaborative. She has taken TEACCH levels I, II and shadow training.

Kathryn has held licenses/certifications for severe emotional disturbance, learning handicap specialist, resource specialist, educational technology, bilingual cultural linguistic academic development and special education consulting teacher.

In her current position, she serves thirteen schools as a consultant and trainer for children with autism spectrum disorders. She is involved in the Vermont Structured Teaching group and the Vermont State Department of Education alternate assessment committee.

Linda Mulley has presented and consulted on autism and curriculum throughout US, but now mainly in Northern New England.

Linda has a BA from the University of Michigan, an MA in Special Education from Lesley College and CAGS
from University of Vermont.

Linda was awarded Autism Society of Vermont's Excellence in Autism Award in 2002 and has given more than 100 presentations, courses and trainings including:
collaborative teaming and collaboration, using visual supports, literacy
and communication, incidental teaching, discrete trial learning,
structured teaching and more.
Linda served as an instructor at Dartmouth College/Education Department  for five years.

Chris Knippenberg, OTR, Structured Teaching Expert


Chris Knippenberg is a school-based occupational therapist whose commitment is to work with Vermont families and teams so that children can participate fully in their home and school life.

Chris is Vermont's leading expert on structured teaching. The blending of Chris' occupational therapy background, extensive experience with autism related issues, and advanced TEACCH training give her unique perspectives and skills in the area of structured teaching. Chris has presented on numerous topics related to sensory integration and autism, autism friendly classrooms, structured teaching, vocational skills, bal-a-vis-x

She is a member of the Vermont Structured Teaching committee and the Vermont Autism Task Force. Chris is also a certified assistive technology specialist.
